Today, the dynamic presence of the HPI in the field of Biomedical Science and Public Health is worthy of its long tradition as a Research Institute in the Service of Public Health. The study of infectious diseases constitutes the main focus of the Institute’s research activities, with pioneering contributions in the field. At the beginning of the 21st century, HPI envisions its future by setting as its basic targets, like the maintenance and further improvement of its research agenda, and still greater achievements in the area of its acknowledged expertise (infectious diseases, immunobiology, neurobiology), with concomitant development of state-of-the-art technology, such as functional genomics and proteomics, thereby ensuring the high competitive level of its research units on the international scene... |
