Vaccine Unit

Head of the Unit: M. Stratigakis, Chemist

The Vaccine Unit of the Hellenic  Pasteur Institute has been operating since 1923. However, in 1988, after a radical renewal of space and equipment, the Unit evolved into a modern production unit, that functions under strict regulations in compliance with European directives and the Greek Organization for Drug Control.

The products of the Unit are allocated (distributed) mainly to the Ministry of Health to meet Public Health requirements. From 2000 on, the Unit has also covered needs of the Organization of Social Security (IKA), while it has supported with vaccines and biological products other humanitarian missions in Greece and abroad. Tuberculin can be obtained by doctors directly from the HPI vaccine unit for their private practice.

The Quality Control Laboratory and the Animal House Unit support the vaccine unit's operation.

Available products include: The vaccines for Tetanus, Diphtheria-tetanus, Diphtheria-tetanus-whooping cough, typhoid, the Antigen Casoni and Tuberculin. Packaged products include the vaccine for measles, rubella and flu
