Experimental Unit: It consists from 3 wings, including traditional, transgenic, KO and inducible systems for Modeling Human and Animal diseases.

Modeling human and animal diseases using mice and rats (wings 1,2,3)

These areas are under Specific Pathogen Free conditions, (SPF) and due to limited circulation are also safe for the use of microorganisms that belong to BSL2 category, according to international guidelines.

Trasngenic and Immunodeficient Mice area

An increasing number of  laboratories in HPI are generating and /or using transgenic mice for their own studies. About forty different transgenic mouse lines, models for various diseases are housed in the facility

Modeling Human diseases:

Infectious, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, such as chronic Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cachexia, Inflammatory Bowel disease, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy animal model after administration of neurotoxic agent kainic, as well as induced cancer models  LINKΣ Εργαστήριο Μοριακής Γενετικής και μονάδα Διαγονιδιακής τεχνολογίας
