The Vaccines Unit of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, unique for our country, has been operating in the fields of production and packaging of vaccines and biological products since 1923. Τhe Unit functions under strict regulations and in compliance with European directives and the National Organisation for Medicines and its operation is supported by the Quality Control Laboratory and by the Animal House Unit of Hellenic Pasteur Institute.

The product that is bottled in the Unit is the tetanus vaccine. The packaged products include: tuberculin, BCG vaccine, anti-snake venom serum, flu vaccine, DT and tetanus adult vaccine, measles vaccine, rubella vaccine, meningococcal A/C/Y/W-135 vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, typhus vaccine, cholera vaccine, yellow fever vaccine, polio vaccine, rabies vaccine and tetravac (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis) vaccine. |

The products of the Unit are allocated (distributed) mainly to the Greek Ministry of Health in order to meet Public Health requirements. |
In addition, the Unit covers the needs of other bodies, such as the Social Insurance Services, the Greek Armed Forces, Hospitals, factories etc, whereas it has supported on multiple occasions, via the allocation of vaccines and other biological products, humanitarian missions in Greece and overseas. Finally, private doctors and Private Hospitals can also obtain from the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, via the Unit, vaccines and other biological products.

The laboratory of Quality Control of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, an independent unit from the Unit of Vaccines, functions according to the current pharmaceutical legislation (Official journal of the Hellenic Republic 322/6-5-1993).
The Laboratory is a member of the European Network of Official Medicines Control Laboratories and Hellas Lab (national representative of Eurolab).
The Laboratory has an ISO and the authority from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Technology (Y.F.E.T) to perform controls in vaccines and biological products. The Laboratory also participates in research programs for the development of new products for diagnostics.
