HPI Researchers article in the top 100 Chemistry Scientific Reports papers of 2020

Our recent publication on lateral flow biosensors (rapid tests) for virus detection in Scientific Reports is listed in the “Top 100 in Chemistry” collection. This collection highlights the most downloaded chemistry papers published in 2020.

The article authored by D.K. Toubanaki*, M. Margaroni, A. Prapas and E. Karagouni is entitled “Development of a Nanoparticle-based Lateral Flow Strip Biosensor for Visual Detection of Whole Nervous Necrosis Virus Particles”. The study describes the development and validation of a nanoparticle-based paper biosensor for easy, specific and sensitive visual detection of whole viral particles (virions) in biological samples. The developed biosensor was applied on nervous necrosis virus (nodavirus) screening in various fish species.

The research project was implemented within the framework of the Action «Supporting Postdoctoral Researchers» of the Operational Program “Education and Lifelong Learning” (Action’s Beneficiary: General Secretariat for Research and Technology, LS9_448), awarded to D.K. Toubanaki and was co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Greek State.
