Summer School 2024

The Summer School on 'Laboratory Surveillance Methods and Epidemiological Reporting of Respiratory Viruses' (Summer School 2024 on Respiratory viruses laboratory surveillance methods and reporting), organized by the National Influenza Reference Laboratory of Northern Greece (E.E.A.G.N.E), was successfully completed. This event was part of the program AURORAE, funded by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

We were honored by the presence of the President of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, Professor of Pediatrics and Endocrinology Dr. G. Chrousos, the Head of the Respiratory Virus Department of ECDC Dr. E. Broberg, the Senior Researcher at INSA Dr. V. Borges, and the Professors of Microbiology and Heads of the Influenza Reference Laboratory of Northern Greece Dr. G. Gioula and Dr. M. Exintari. From the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, the organization and training were carried out by the Technical Manager of E.E.A.G.N.E Dr. M. Emmanouil, the scientific collaborator of E.E.A.G.N.E Dr. V. Baniasadi, the technical scientist and member of E.E.A.G.N.E Dr. M. Evangelidou, and the laboratory's Quality Assurance Manager Dr. E. Chorefti, under the scientific guidance of the Head of E.E.A.G.N.E and Head of the Diagnostic Department Dr. E. Angelaki.

Ten trainees from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovenia, and Turkey participated and were trained in surveillance methods and techniques (wet- and dry-lab) for the influenza virus and other respiratory viruses.
